Following the events related to the ongoing conflict, the International Union of Institutes of Archaeology History and Art History in Rome, expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people and culture.
Founded on the ashes of the huge catastrophe of the Second World War with the aim of reactivating cultural relations between countries already at war, the Union, adhering to Article 11 of the Italian Constitution, “rejects war as an instrument of offense to the freedom of other peoples and as a means of settling international disputes” and promotes any initiative aimed at restoring peace.
Today, we have published a video that portrays seven Ukrainian and Russian fellows whom the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Institute for Art History, Rome supports as a contribution to the #ScienceForUkraine initiative since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The fellows tell us about their past, present, and future from a professional and personal point of view. Their fields of research and their personal experience remind us once more that peace is a precious privilege and that freedom is the foundation of all research activity. We thank the colleague and institutes who have helped us welcoming the fellows.
